How to play

Go 3D brings the classic game of Go to CastPlayTV with a cinematic 3D goban on the Main screen. Host on a TV or computer, create a Go 3D room, and choose a 9×9, 13×13, or 19×19 board in the lobby. Two players join from their phones via QR code or room code. Black plays first; take turns placing stones on intersections, capturing by surrounding groups, and respecting the ko rule. Pass when you see no useful move — two consecutive passes end the game with Chinese area scoring (stones plus surrounded empty points, plus komi for White). You can also resign. Capture any dead stones before passing; the server scores the board as it stands. Phones show an interactive 2D board while everyone watches stones land on the shared 3D table. No download is required — open the browser and play. For online matches, choose Player with own screen so the 3D board and controls run on your phone, tablet, or computer.

What you need

For living-room play: a Main screen device with a modern browser (TV, laptop, or PC) and two phones for the players. For online play: each player can use Player with own screen on a phone, tablet, or computer. Internet or local network access; no dedicated gamepad or app install.

FAQ

Which board sizes are available?

Hosts can pick 9×9, 13×13, or 19×19 in the lobby before starting. Beginners often prefer 9×9; 19×19 is the standard full board.

How does scoring work?

After two consecutive passes, CastPlayTV uses Chinese area scoring: each player scores stones on the board plus empty points surrounded only by their color. White receives komi (6.5 on 9×9, 7.5 on larger boards). Capture dead groups before passing.

Is suicide allowed?

No. A move that leaves your own stones with no liberties is illegal unless it captures opponent stones and frees liberties.

Can I play with one device?

Yes. Go 3D supports Player with own screen: the 3D board and your moves appear on your phone, tablet, or computer for online play. For couch co-op, use a shared Main screen plus phone controllers.
