  2. Navigate to castplaytv.com Enter the URL, choose Main screen, and create a room for your first game.

webOS tips for smoother multiplayer

Magic Remote pointer mode helps for clicking Create room, but on-screen keyboards are slow. Have one person create the room from a phone bookmark if typing on the TV is painful, then keep the Main screen visible on LG once the room exists — or host Main entirely from a laptop on HDMI.

Give the TV a stable network path. Ethernet adapters on LG sets often outperform congested 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi when several phones are also streaming video elsewhere in the house.

Close unused LG apps before hosting. Memory pressure shows up as delayed piece moves or a frozen QR.

  • Bookmark castplaytv.com in the LG browser after the first successful night
  • Turn off auto-power-off timers for the length of the session
  • Prefer 5 GHz Wi‑Fi for phones when the TV is on Ethernet
  • Start with 2D party games if a 3D title stutters on your model year

Open with DoodleDash or Cast Dash so everyone practices scanning. Move to Monopoly or Chess once the join habit is boring — boring is good.

If relatives bring different phone brands, the browser join path keeps you out of “install this store app” debates.

Keep the LG set as Main screen for people on the couch. Remote friends on supported games should choose Player with own screen and use the shared room code. You do not need two TVs.

FAQ

Do I need an LG account to play CastPlayTV?

Not for CastPlayTV itself. You only need the TV browser and phones on a network path that can reach the site.

The LG browser feels slow — what should I do?

Host Main screen on a laptop connected by HDMI and keep using phones as controllers. This is a common living-room fix on older webOS builds.

Can guests join without the LG remote?

Yes. Once the QR or room code is on screen, guests only need their phones.
